Happy Barbenheimer Day to all who celebrate.

Friday, both Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer debuted to the public after months of meticulously crafted memes and befitting hype for both filmmakers’ latest theatrical experiences.

Complementing the Barbie experience is a star-stacked official soundtrack, aptly titled Barbie: The Album. Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Aqua’s “Barbie World” appears early into the 17-song tracklist and is joined here by tracks from Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Karol G, Tame Impala, Haim, Dominic Fike, PinkPantheress, Billie Eilish, and more.

Theatrically, we’ve all been feasting as of late. Just over a week ago, Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie’s expectedly great Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One brought the beloved franchise back to theaters. Now, mere days later, we’re getting the simultaneous rollout of two consistently excellent filmmakers’ newest entries.

This is no competition, however, at least not for true filmheads. Nolan himself, for example, believes it’s “terrific” that moviegoers have such plentiful options at the moment.

The Barbenheimer duality also extends to Friday's new music releases, as Barbie: The Album is joined in this week's lineup by Ludwig Göransson's Oppenheimer soundtrack.
