Cockroach Met Gala Red Carpet

A New York City cockroach has gone viral after it made a red carpet appearance at Monday’s Met Gala while fans and photographers waited for Rihanna to arrive.

A video captured of the moment by Variety shows a fast-walking roach strutting its stuff as photographer Kevin Mazur takes a few snapshots – and as other attendees scream in terror. The outlet then reported that the cockroach had unfortunately been stepped on.

The cockroach wasn’t the only one strutting their stuff at Monday’s Met Gala. ASAP Rocky and Rihanna, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, and Taika Waititi and Rita Ora all showed out in a big way last night, while Bronx rapper Ice Spice made her debut Met Gala appearance after receiving an invite at Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s request. Doja Cat’s feline fit also had the internet in a chokehold, as she sought to embody Lagerfeld’s famous cat Choupette.

The night’s theme, “A Line of Beauty,” honored the late German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who was known for his esteemed work at Chanel, and who passed away in 2019 at 85.

Before making his own Met Gala appearance, ASAP Rocky seemed to be running a bit behind schedule, as he was seen on video pushing past a crowd that had gathered at the Carlyle Hotel in order to get ready for the event. He even used a woman’s head to help him leap over the barricade in front of the hotel, which the fan didn’t seem to mind.
