Golden Corral employee Brandon Huber posted a YouTube video showing trays of food stored near dumpsters during an inspection of the restaurant. The video went viral and was picked up by several news media sites. Golden Corral issued a statement saying that the food was disposed of and not served to any customers. The restaurant claimed that Hubert's father tried to sell the video, and that the manager of that location had since been terminated.

In an unprecedented digital download deal with Samsung, MCHG was supposed to be made available for 1 million Samsung users days ahead of its physical release via a Smartphone application. The app was overloaded on the night that the download went live, and most people were left staring at frozen screens, causing the hashtag #SamsungFail to trend on Twitter. Despite the release issues (and subsequent investigation into the app's data mining practices), the album received mostly positive reviews and achieved platinum status.
Also this month, Jay Z asserted his status in the art world with a performance art piece at Pace Gallery where he rapped "Picasso Baby" for six hours on July 10. The Internet went wild when Marina Abramovic started dancing and making crazy eyes at Hov.
