Friends was a phenomenon, to say the least. Despite a slow start, the NBC sitcom gained a loyal following that would carry it for ten whole seasons. For its fans, Friends wasn't just another sitcom to fill a Thursday night. It was the equivalent of going to your parents' house once a week for a home-cooked meal—cozy, familiar, a way to escape. Not only was the chemistry of the cast amusingly palpable, the show's consistent rom-com-esque storylines allowed people to become invested in the characters. Proof? Every other person can tell you what exactly a "Ross and Rachel" relationship means. —TA
