Watch a Candid 70-Minute Conversation With Tyler, the Creator

For over an hour, Tyler, the Creator gives fans an experience that includes insight on his creative process, what inspires him as an artist, and much more.

Tyler, the Creator fans were given a feast of sorts on Wednesday with the unveiling of an extended interview conducted as part of Converse’s All Star Series. It followed the recent announcement for the release date of the Golf Wang x Converse Chuck 70 Low “Python.”

The talk spans more than 70 minutes in length and sees the Call Me If You Get Lost crafter opening up about his creative process, what inspires him as an artist, and much more. Near the top of the discussion, Tyler also spoke about his years-long collaborative relationship with Converse and how Pharrell first helped link him up with the brand years ago. Looking back on his work with the brand, Tyler was quick to praise the earlier ideas that didn’t land for having an impact on where he ended up as an artist.

“With Converse it’s like, man, we had so many different ideas that didn’t work, and it’s okay because all of that got us to this one end result that doesn’t even have anything to do with it,” Tyler said, adding that “you just learn along the way.”

Later, Tyler spoke on the importance of artists having “cheerleaders” along their respective journeys, noting that the continued presence of a supportive friend can be integral. He also shared some passionate remarks regarding artists who elect to crowdsource their process via social media snippets, as well as went deep on his disinterest in the NFT space.

“You can’t NFT me looking at you in real life,” Tyler helpfully pointed out while sharing a number of stories involving person-to-person interaction and the inherent artistic beauty of everyday life.

See more from Tyler up top, including a reflection on how it feels to see his dream of scoring come to fruition and much more.
