Meek Mill was in celebration mode on Thursday night after the Philadelphia 76ers bagged a 105-87 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Tonight is a Philadelphia 6ixers night,” Meek said when crashing a 76ers press conference, per the Associated Press. “Shoutout to the 6ixers, you guys. Good win!”
Ahead of the game, the Lakers announced that LeBron James wouldn’t be playing due to a sore knee, meaning the star player’s status will now be on a day-to-day basis. The 76ers’ Joel Embiid, meanwhile, said he “was not very good” during the game and thanked his fellow players for helping bring home Thursday’s win.
6ixers managing partner Josh Harris and his wife Marjorie Harris were reported by Philly Voice and others this week to have made a six-figure donation to Meek Mill, Michael Rubin, and Jay-Z’s REFORM Alliance nonprofit. While the exact amount of the donation has not been made public, the funds will assist in the nonprofit’s ongoing work toward criminal justice reform.
In a message thanking Josh and Marjorie for the donation, Rubin said the donation will translate to “more people moving from a failed system to one that prioritizes community safety.”
Meek’s most recent album, last year’s Expensive Pain, was among those named the best of 2021 by Complex. The ranking also included albums by Ye, Doja Cat, Kacey Musgraves, Vince Staples, Olivia Rodrigo, and more. Revisit the full list here.
