Drake is taking his love of gaming andFortnite to the next level. The Toronto rapper and Scooter Braun are now co-owners of the eSports and lifestyle brand 100 Thieves, founded by former professional gamer Matt “Nadeshot” Haag.
As Forbes and TMZ report, 100 Thieves has teams competing in League of Legends, Call of Duty and Fortnite—professional communities with massive amounts of money to be made. With the help of Braun and Drake, the young company closed out its Series A funding round with $25 million in total capital, which will go into acquiring new talent, creating content, and extending its apparel line. The 100 Thieves apparel is so popular that so far all of its drops have reportedly sold out in less than 20 minutes.
It’s no surprise that the business-minded Scooter Braun, who manages Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, hopped into the lucrative world of eSports. He and Drizzy will serves as strategic advisors for the company, which was founded in 2017, according to Forbes. So far Drake has already collaborated with 100 Thieves on custom gaming equipment he uses on tour.
"With Matt's [aka Nadeshot] experience, talent and vision as a professional gamer he and his team have built one of the most authentic brands in the ever-evolving gaming space,” Braun said of the company. "We are honored to join the 100 Thieves family during this exciting phase of their professional journey. I personally could not be more thrilled for 100 Thieves. This is just the beginning."
100 Thieves founder Matt Haag became famous as Nadeshot playing Call of Duty professionally. He built a 3.1 million YouTube following with more than 2 million followers on Twitter.
"It's been exciting to watch eSports become a cultural phenomenon in 2018," he wrote on the 100 Thieves website. "I've spent my ten-year career in eSports growing the ecosystem and am proud to have Drake and Scooter join as my partners to help take 100 Thieves to new heights. Our top priority is to win World Championships, but our ambitions go far beyond competitive gaming."
