A clip has been making its way around the internet that shows Floyd Mayweather describing how he's going to Saudi Arabia to review terms for a looming Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch. The part where he says he's going to the Middle East to "talk about the Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch" seems like something that would be kind of hard to misintrepret, but 10-second clips usually leave something to be desired:
On that note, if that's something that pumped you up...we have bad news. Apparently that fight "will never happen." Instead Mayweather has taken to his Instagram to say that he made the video months ago. He also claims that he got $2.2 million just to record the 10 seconds of footage.
To back up that claim, Mayweather showed bank statements on his IG from this past January. He also provided context for the whole situation with the following caption:
Additionally, Mayweather praised Fight Hype for "clearing the air" about the rematch that'll never happen, which they did in a write-up that included some jabs:
Seems like money well spent.
