The Weeknd to Star in New Film Alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weekend is set to star in his first feature film alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Trey Edward Shults will direct.

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd is set to star in his first feature film alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.

Tesfaye created the project, will produce, and co-wrote the script with Trey Edward Shults and Reza Fahim. Shults will direct. The untitled movie’s logline and plot have yet to be announced. Composer and producer Daniel Lopatin aka OPN will handle the film’s score with The Weeknd. OPN previously worked on the scores for Uncut Gems and Good Time.

In other news, The Weeknd recently became the first artist in Spotify history to garner 100 million monthly listeners. 

Last week, The Weeknd teamed up with Ariana Grande for a remix of “Die for You.” Head here to listen to the track and stay tuned for additional information regarding Tesfaye’s forthcoming film.

Until then, fans can catch Tesfaye in the upcoming HBO series The Idol. The series, which was created by Sam Levinson and Tesfaye, is set to debut on HBO later this year. Lily-Rose Depp,Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, and Jane Adams will also star in the show.
