King Von’s new posthumous album What It Means to Be King has arrived.

The sophomore follow-up to 2020’s gold-certified Welcome to O’Block comes after Von’s estate and label Only the Family/Empire released two singles from the project: “War” and “Don’t Play That” featuring 21 Savage. The latter track ended up becoming Von’s highest-charting song to date, debuting at No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Kid Hazel-produced track was then given the visual treatment, and finds an animated version of the late Chicago rapper cruising through the city with his woman as they head to the studio. Von then connects with 21 right before the two rappers become pursued by the police. Since the single’s release, the track has earned more than 16 million streams on Spotify, while the video currently has over six million views on YouTube. Merch for the song also came out.

The 19-song project includes additional guest features from G Herbo, Tee Grizzley, Moneybagg Yo, Fivio Foreign, Dreezy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, along with King Von’s mentor Lil Durk. The OTF label head honcho has made it a point to pay tribute to him on several occasions, like wearing Von’s O Block chain in the “Backdoor” video as well as getting iced-out memory tags of them together.
