Vic Mensa has dropped a smooth new track entitled “Strawberry Louis Vuitton,” which features Thundercat and Maeta.

To accompany the release, the Chicago rapper shared an action-packed visual, which you can watch up top. The video sees him parachute out of a plane while playing guitar. Shot on video with a scuzzy aesthetic, it pairs well with the throwback indie sound of the song itself, which sees him blend his exploration of more rock-oriented sounds with hip-hop.

“I made 'Strawberry Louis Vuitton' while watching one of Virgil's last LV films; the one with Saul Williams,” said Vic. “When I heard the sample it just spoke to me, so I chopped it, made the beat, and wrote the song on the spot. It was really a freestyle. I always imagined Thundercat doing the bridge...we recorded it when he was on tour and I was doing my art show in Chicago. When Virgil passed away I kind of felt like he had given this song to me; the gift that keeps on giving, in a way.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that Mensa was planning to help bring clean water to over 200,000 people in Ghana by building wells. “We’re building 3 Boreholes in different communities in Ghana to provide clean drinking water; the first being the Asokore Zongo in Koforidua where my family lives, which is already built,” said Mensa, whose father is from Ghana. “The other locations are a nearby community called Efiduase and then our ancestral village in the Volta Region Amedzope. Most people in communities like this in Ghana experience constant water borne diseases.”
