During his Utopia show in Rome, Travis Scott brought out his mentor Kanye West.
"It's been only one human being on this motherfucking planet, that has ever walked side-by-side with me, through anything and every motherfucking thing," said La Flame as he introduced Ye. He then proceeded to get his DJ Chase B to play the intro to the Donda track "Praise God," on which Scott is featured. The two rappers joined together onstage to thunderous applause from the audience.
When the track got to Baby Keem's verse, however, they cut it short and switched gears to a performance of the 2007 single "Can't Tell Me Nothing." Scott told the audience, "Give me 'Can't Tell Me Nothing,' 'cause I gotta hear this just one time. I want everybody to make some motherfucking noise for the greatest of all motherfucking time."
After the song, Scott addressed the audience. "There is no Utopia without Kanye West," he said. "There is no Travis Scott without Kanye West. There is no Rome without Kanye West. Make some noise for Ye!" The two hugged and Kanye left the stage as the audience chanted his name. It's worth noting that when Utopia was released, many fans drew comparisons to Kanye's Yeezus.
The performance was live-streamed via Scott's official website. It's the first time Scott and Kanye have shared a stage since Ye's multiple Donda 2 live shows last year.
Kanye lost a lot of support from his collaborators last year when he made a series of antisemitic remarks that ended with him publicly praising Adolf Hitler and denying the Holocaust. He didn't make an appearance on Scott's long-awaited Utopia, but it's clear that they're still on good terms despite Ye's very problematic public comments. In fact, in the song "Skitzo," Scott voiced his loyalty to Ye. "I'm loyal, bitch, I got Ye over Biden," he rapped in a reference to Ye's unsuccessful presidential run in 2020.
Following the conclusion of Scott's show in Rome, he is expected to debut his Circus Maximus film on Apple Music.
