YBN Almighty Jay Jokes About 'Trying to Get the Wu-Tang Clan to Come Out'

After telling Complex last month that he had no idea who the Wu-Tang Clan or Method Man were, the young rapper is cracking jokes about the blunder in a new interview.

Last month, the YBN crew chopped it up with Complex onOpen Late With Peter Rosenberg. During a conversation with Nahmir, Cordae, and Almighty Jay, Jay admitted that he couldn't name a single member of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Despite being clowned for that online, Jay clearly isn't pressed about the criticism, and openly joked about his blunder in a new interview with Billboard.

When asked about the crew’s future plans for 2018, he told the magazine, “I'm trying to get the Wu-Tang Clan to come out for us. Trying to get my man Method Man to open up for me.”

YBN Cordae quickly shot Jay down. “I don't co-sign any of this,” he added.

This all started when Rosenberg asked the crew what past rappers they studied. "I ain't gonna lie; I never went that far back. I listen to generational music," Jay admitted. "If it's in right now, that's what I listen to. It might be weird and stuff, people be like, 'You don't know the history of rap and you're a rapper,' but like I don't go back that far to listen to music."

When asked about who is the oldest artist he looks back on, Jay honestly replied that it is Lil Wayne. That may sound far-fetched, but when Rosenberg pressed on if they were Wu-Tang heads, Jay immediately shook his head and admitted he didn’t know who they were.

"No disrespect, I don't know who that is,” he said. "I don't even known Wu-Tang. I don't know none of they songs. I don't even know what they look like."

In disbelief, Rosenberg asked if Jay could name one member of Wu-Tang. He shamelessly replied "no," then asked, "Wu?"

The young rapper clearly didn’t take any of the residual hate to heart, and as the Billboard interview reveals, he now knows who Method Man is. Hopefully he’s also found time to listen to Enter the Wu-Tang.
