Raptors Coach Nick Nurse to Perform at Toronto Jazz Festival

Off the basketball court, Nick Nurse likes playing music, so it's only fitting that he'll be hitting the stage for TD Toronto Jazz Fest this summer.

When Nick Nurse isn’t coaching the Raptors, it’s safe to say you can probably find him engaging in one of his musical pursuits. From raising money for charity during his foundation’s “An Evening of Music” event or rocking out with the Arkells, Nurse knows how to stay busy even when he’s off the basketball court.

Now he’s getting ready for his next performance where he’ll be hitting the stage again—next week he’ll be jamming onstage at TD Toronto Jazz Fest alongside The New Power Generation, Prince’s backing band from 1990 to 2013.

It’s no secret that Nurse is a Prince fan—in his book, he revealed that “Purple Rain” was the first song he ever learned how to play on the piano.

TD Toronto Jazz Festival celebrates its 35th anniversary this summer, taking place with free outdoor programming from June 24 to July 3. Fans hoping to see Nurse with the band can catch their free set on Sunday, June 26 at the TD Main Stage – The Block at 8:45 p.m..

Other artists performing at TD Toronto Jazz Fest this year include TOBi and Savannah Ré.
