The Chicago Bulls’ Alex Caruso has fractured his right wrist following a flagrant foul from Grayson Allen of the Bucks during Friday night’s game. And Bulls fans—as well as the team’s official account—aren’t entirely happy with how Milwaukee has handled things.
Caruso will need surgery as a result of the injury, the team shared on Saturday, and will undergo it next week. He will then be reevaluated in six to eight weeks.
His injury follows a hard Flagrant 2 foul by Allen, as seen below, who swiped at Caruso twice while trying to prevent him from banking a layup.
But on Saturday, in a tweet that has since been deleted, the Bucks organization shared a gif of Allen eating a donut while grinning. In response, the official Chicago account replied with the word “seriously” with three question marks, and now things are looking a bit heated between the two organizations on socials.
The Twitter exchange was followed by the Bucks blocking the account for the Bulls Talk Podcast, which made note of the odd timing of the tweet. The podcast even tweeted at Bucks player Bobby Portis, encouraging him to “blink twice” if he needs help. He then sent the page a meme of Squidward, with his eyes wide open, dressed up as the player.
Memes aside, Chicago officials are seemingly upset with how the play went down on Friday night.
“For Alex to be in the air like that and for him to take him down like that, it could have ended his career,” Bulls Coach Billy Donovan shared of the injury. “And he has a history of this. That to me was really dangerous. And I really hope the league takes a hard [look] at something like that because he could’ve really seriously hurt him…. Just being there, it’s really, really dangerous to go after somebody like that. And I personally thought it was just not good.”
Caruso himself has called the foul “bullshit” during a post-game presser, keeping it at that. He hasn’t tweeted since the incident, and neither has Allen.
