Less than 24 hours after the NBA Finals wrapped with the Denver Nuggets ousting the Miami Heat in five games, basketball fans are already wondering when commissioner Adam Silver will announce Ja Morant's suspension.
Prior to Game 1 of the Finals, Silver indicated that he'd reached a decision regarding Morant, who in May was suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies after the star guard was seen flashing a gun on social media. Making matters worse, the incident came just two months after the NBA suspended Ja for eight games without pay after he brandished a firearm on Instagram Live.
During his annual press conference ahead of the NBA Finals opener, Silver said he'd decided on Morant's punishment after his office had discovered "a fair amount of additional information" relating to the incident. Silver continued by revealing that he'd wait until the conclusion of the Finals to share his ruling.
"I will say we probably could have brought it to a head now, but we made the decision, and I believe the players association agrees with us, that it would be unfair to these players and these teams in the middle of the series to announce the results of that investigation," Silver shared.
Back in May, the Grizzlies organization suspended Morant "from all team activities pending league review," shortly after the video of Ja holding a gun went viral.
With the Finals over, NBA fans have taken to Twitter to share memes and videos in anticipation of Silver's announcement.
