While he doesn’t physically make an appearance on the show, it’s hard to argue against Pete Davidson being a palpable presence on the inaugural season of Hulu’s The Kardashians. With the latest episode, titled “Never Go Against the Family,” fans are given the most revealing glimpse yet at Pete’s relationship with Kim Kardashian, including insight from Kim herself about what makes their coupling so special.

First up, we get an inkling of such insight from Kim as she reflects on how excited Mason Disick was when she dropped him off at Travis Barker’s studio for the day. Seeing Mason grow closer with Travis and warming up to the idea of a stepfather figure, as Kim explains during a chat with Kris Jenner, gives her hope that she can one day have the same.

“I think after hearing this conversation with Mason and North and just hearing how he’s getting along with Travis and loving having someone else around I just think, like, ‘Okay there’s hope.’ Like, you know, one day I’ll have someone that can come around and hang out with the kids,” she said.

Elsewhere, Kim is asked why she’s been so secretive about her relationship with Pete, at least initially.

“Honestly I just feel like I wanted to really make sure and not just be so, like, ‘Oh my God, I met someone and I’m having fun,’ and, you know, just start talking about it on a show and then if we weren’t talking months later, I’d be, like, an idiot, you know? Or a whore, either one,” she responded.

The new episode also sees Kim praising her sister Kourtney for being a “guide” as to how she herself can move forward following her split from the artist formerly known as Kanye West. But the real insight comes in around halfway into the episode, with Kim opening up during a confessional about how she and Pete first connected following her SNL hosting debut last October.

“Okay you guys have stalked me long enough. I’ll finally answer you,” Kim said. “So this is how it went down with Pete. I did SNL and then when we kissed in the scene it was just a vibe. And I was like, ‘Oh shit. Maybe I just need to try something different.’ But Pete does not come to my afterparty. Everyone was at my afterparty. [He] does not give me the time of day.”

The next move for Kim was to call an SNL producer a few days later and see if they could provide her with Pete’s number, which they did.

“I wasn’t even thinking, like, ‘Oh my God. I’m gonna be in a relationship with him.’ I was just thinking, like, heard about this BDE, [I] need to get out there. … I was just basically DTF,” Kim recalled.

A bit deeper into the episode, Pete is described by Kim as being “literally the best human being” she’s ever met. In Kim’s own words, Pete is “really thoughtful and humble and just so genuine,” with the latter quality being touted by Kim as the “perfect word” to describe him.

Also revealed here is that Pete had at one point tried to make contact with Kim by way of Megan Fox, who’s engaged to Pete’s friend, Machine Gun Kelly. This attempt, according to Kim, was met with a hilarious gator-focused hypothetical from Fox.

“After we got together and it was, like, a thing, Megan Fox texted me and was like, ‘Is this shit for real? Because he asked me for your number months ago and like I was like dude, you have a better shot of, like, me and MGK getting eaten by crocodiles than you ever getting her number,’” Kim said.

As always, you can find the full episode here.

Pete Davidson, meanwhile, is fresh off announcing his exit from SNL after eight seasons. “I got to share so much with this audience and literally grow up in front of your eyes,” he said via a recent update shared to friend Dave Sirus’ Instagram page. “We were together through the good and the bad, the happiest and the darkest of times.”
