Eric André and Emily Ratajkowski seemed like an unexpected pairing for some.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the comedian opened up about his romance with the model, saying he thinks the media’s coverage and the “think pieces and the mythology are more interesting than the reality.”
André, 39, also went into detail about how his now-infamous Valentine’s Day Instagram post with Ratajkowski, 31, came to be. “Emily popped up and took that picture,” he told writer Marlow Stern. “I was really in the moment, I was drinking wine, she started dying laughing, and she was like, ‘I have to take a picture of this.’ She took the picture, we both started cracking up, and she was like, ‘This is iconic.’ … We both agreed this was a beautiful image that we had to share with the world.”
A source close to the situation told Complex that Ratajkowski broke things off with Andre prior to the post being uploaded online and that the two never agreed on him sharing the pic.
The media was in a frenzy following news that the pair was dating earlier this year, with paparazzi remaining on Ratajkowski’s tail and André calling it “legalized stalking.”
“There’s a darkness to it. It’s boundary-less and quasi-abusive,” he said. “She has the right to her privacy. If she goes outside her house they’re there. There should be some laws behind that. … I don’t give a fuck; I have nothing to hide. But it’s more about how I feel concerned for her safety and the safety of others at her level who deal with that. She has a kid. It’s not safe. … She’s handled it with grace.”
A few days post-Valentine’s, EmRata suggested on TikTok that her “situationship” had ended.
Elsewhere in the RS interview, the subject of Michael B. Jordan seeing André in the buff also came up. He claimed that when he was shooting Bad Trip in Atlanta, he was “very stressed” so he went to the Four Seasons’ spa and was the only one there.
“I was feeling so comfortable that I was reading a newspaper butt-naked and spread eagle in the sauna,” he told the magazine. “No one came in for hours. Out of nowhere, Michael B. Jordan entered the sauna, stared into the center of my penis hole, looks me in the eye, and just leaves. It’s the only time I’ve ever met him.”
A source has since told Complex that Jordan has never been at the Four Seasons Spa in question and did not met or run into Andre. The source added that Andre fabricated the story to get press for his show.
