Tracy Morgan is set to be the latest (new) cast member to join Paramount's Coming to America sequel, Coming 2 America, according to reports. In addition to starring the original's Eddie Murphy (who doubles as a producer) and Arsenio Hall, recently announced cast members for the sequel include Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, and Rick Ross.

According to Deadline, the sequel's plot will see Akeem (Murphy) ready to go from Prince to King of Zamunda, while simultaneously learning he has a long-lost son (Lavelle) back in Queens from his visit in the 1988 original. In an effort to grant a dying wish to his father to nurture Lavelle as the eventual crown prince, Akeem and friend/aide Semmi (Arsenio Hall's character) go back to America to meet the heir.

The sequel is due to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2020, more than 32 years after the original debuted on big screens.

As for Morgan's role, he is set to play the "hustler" brother of Leslie Jones' character, with Jones filling the role of the mother of Lavelle after she had had a one-night stand with Akeem. James Earl Jones will also reprise his role as Akeem's father, and so too will Paul Bates as Akeem's royal servant. Additionally, Nigerian-American singer and Power star Rotimi has joined the cast.

Craig Brewer will direct, with Kenya Barris will produce and work on the screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin later this month.
