Amid several converging controversies centered on the artist formerly known as Kanye West, fellow Go Getters alum GLC has shared an extended message in support of Ye, calling him a “hero” who has made “great contributions to humanity as a whole.”

In an Instagram post shared Sunday, the “Spaceship” and “Drive Slow” contributor made references to previously reported comments from Ye regarding children’s use of TikTok and Kim Kardashian’s relationship with SNL star Pete Davidson.

“[Ye] is the ultimate father,” GLC said in the caption of the post, which also included a photo of Ye with his and Kim’s children. “He fights for the betterment of his children. I understand that we all have our vices & issues but would you like a dude in & out the rehab in the midst of your children? He aims to have his kids at church & form a relationship with God. He doesn’t want his little girl on social media with make-up on, singing about how she’s in love with an emo girl.”

Elsewhere, GLC referred to Ye as a “SuperDad” and criticized the ongoing news coverage, arguing that it’s “disheartening” for multiple reasons.

“The way he is being portrayed in the media is disheartening on many levels especially when it comes to our own people aiming to bring him down,” GLC said. “It makes me wonder would the headlines read the same if he wasn’t a Black Man in America?”

Toward the end of his message, the Chicago artist highlighted an assortment of endeavors he argues “should be included” alongside recent news coverage.

“Ye is a hero, who has made great contributions to humanity as a whole,” he wrote. “We should lift him up in his time of need! He is my brother & I love him!”

Last week, Ye was hit with a temporary IG suspension described in initial reports as having been spurred by violations of “hate speech, harassment, and bullying” policies. Prior to the suspension, the Donda and Donda 2 artist had faced criticism over a post targeting Trevor Noah, who last week discussed the larger Ye x Kim Kardashian x Pete Davidson controversy on The Daily Show.

On Sunday, Noah addressed the ongoing coverage surrounding reactions to the segment in question, clarifying in a tweet that he had said “counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.” The latest from Noah arrived following reports of Ye’s Grammys performance invitation having allegedly been rescinded due to “concerning online behavior.”
