Snoop Dogg has shed more light on the edibles that got him to post about Drake's AI-assisted diss track against Kendrick Lamar titled "Taylor Made Freestyle."
During a recent conversation with Bootleg Kev, Snoop opened up about the incident that landed him in hot water with Kendrick. Drake released "Taylor Made Freestyle," where he used AI technology to create rap verses using both Snoop and 2Pac's voices. The track caused quite a commotion and led Snoop to react to it on Instagram by asking what all the chatter was about.
Kendrick felt a way about Snoop's actions and responded on the song "wacced out murals" on GNX, where he rapped, "Snoop posted 'Taylor Made,' I prayed it was the edibles/I couldn't believe it, it was only right for me to let it go."
Snoop told Bootleg Kev that Kendrick had every right to express his feelings about his misguided actions and that he should do a better job of being his "big homeboy."
"That's my nephew, he's a rapper, man. He's supposed to speak his mind and tell his truth," said Snoop. "That's the way he felt and he has the right to say that. I'm his big homeboy so I have to take what's given to me from his perspective because he's speaking truth. And the truth shouldn't hurt you, it should make you better."
He continued, "I'm one to accept truth when it's brought to me directly. He feels that I shouldn't have played that. 'Damn, I was on them edibles, my n***a; I gotta be more careful. You right nephew."
Snoop then explained how he found himself in that situation. According to Snoop, he did a collaborative post with someone, but he wasn't paying attention to the song being used in the post . He claimed all he was worried about was his brand, Gin & Juice, which was being promoted in said post, and he didn't know about the AI-assisted diss track Drake released.
Kendrick allegedly told Snoop he wasn't happy with his perceived co-sign of "Taylor Made Freestyle." He then proceeded to mend the situation by calling Dot and leaving him a voicemail apologizing for the fumble.
During a chat at ComplexCon, Snoop informed people that he wasn't looking to take sides in the beef between Drake and Lamar because he had no direct ties to any of the beef.
"['Not Like Us'] unified the West," he said. "So it may have been disrespectful, but it's hip-hop, so it's part of hip-hop. I chose no sides because I have no individual cause. That's a grown man going against a grown man. But what it did do was unite the West, and make everybody out here start looking at each other like how much love we got for each other."
