A few days after celebrating his 35th birthday, Drake took to Instagram to pay his respects to the influential work of Snoop Dogg and Eminem.

On Thursday morning, Drake had seemingly been shuffling through old footage of 2000’s Up in Smoke Tour, the West Coast tour comprised of headline performances from Eminem, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Devin the Dude, and Xzibit, among others. Drizzy shared a few screenshots from the tour’s archival footage, focusing in on Eminem and Snoop in particular.

“Man this guy underappreciated,” Drizzy wrote of Slim Shady, whose hit “Superman” he paid homage to on 2019’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes track “Chicago Freestyle.”

As for Snoop, he simply put, “my uncle too raw.”

While the respect has always been mutual between Em and Drake, Snoop spoke in the new installment of 360 with Speedy Morman about not always being the biggest fan of Drizzy. “In the beginning, when Drake first came out, I was like, ‘He’s just gonna be here today and gone tomorrow,’” Snoop told Speedy. “Because I was like, I keep hearing basic shit.”

The Doggfather then admitted he couldn’t have been more wrong about the Toronto MC. “What was I thinking? But that’s what we do in hip-hop, we limit. We limit until somebody goes over the limit, and that’s what he did. That’s what hip-hop is to me, he probably took all that shit in when he was hearing all that. … Like, ‘Alright, fuck that. I’m finna fuck these n***as up, I’m gonna do some Michael Jackson shit.’ And he did that!”
