The Weeknd Leads 2023 Juno Awards Nominations With Six

The Juno Awards unveiled the full list of nominations today and leading the count is The Weeknd who tallied six nods in just as many categories.

The Juno Awards unveiled the full list of nominations today and leading the count is The Weeknd with six nods.

The Weeknd, who released Dawn FM just over a year ago, is up for the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year for “Sacrifice”, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year.

Elsewhere in the hip hop world, Dax and Realestk received nods for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, while Tobi is nominated for Songwriter of the Year.

In the Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year category, Adria Kain’s When Flowers Bloom, dvsn’s “If I Get Caught,” Dylan Synclair’s No Longer in the Suburbs, Jessie Reyez’s Yessie, and Savannah Re’s “WTF” are all up for the award.

The Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year features Daniel Caesar’s “Please Do Not Lean,” Jon Vinyl’s “Palisade,” Safe’s “All I Need,” Savannah Re’s duet with Dylan Sinclair “Last One,” and “How to Make Love” from Thehonestguy.

Finally, in the Rap Single of the Year category, “Alejandro Sosa” from Pengz and 6ixbuzz, “Been Himma” by Dom Vallie, Freddie Dredd’s “Wrath,” “Twin Flame,” the collaboration between Kaytranada and Anderson .Paak, and “Wrong Decisions” by Nav will all compete.

The Juno Awards will take place on Monday, March 13 in Edmonton where Simu Liu will once again take up hosting duties. The show will be televised on CBC.
