King Von’s legacy lives on.

Nearly 15 months after the Chicago rapper’s death, his team came through with his long-awaited track “Don’t Play That” featuring 21 Savage and produced by Kid Hazel. Von previewed the cut on social media back in October 2020, just a month before he was fatally shot outside a hookah lounge in Atlanta.

The track marks Von’s first collaboration with 21, who showed love to Von’s family following his untimely death. Week’s after the tragedy, 21 presented Von’s little sister with a new Range Rover. While some fans praised 21 for the gesture, others questioned his motives, which prompted him to defend the move on social media.

“I never speak on stuff like this because I don’t do it for the Internet but y’all being disrespectful,” he tweeted. “I knew Kayla before I knew Von because she talks to my little brother. Von was already planning on purchasing the gift for her birthday and due to his untimely passing he wasn’t able to finish so all I did was finish what he started because I told Kayla when he passed I had her 4L and I meant it.”

The track will be included on Von’s posthumous album, What It Means to Be King, which will be released on March 4 through Only the Family/Empire. During a 2021 interview with VladTV, Von’s former manager Track claimed the artist had hundreds records in the vault—enough for nearly a dozen albums.

“Just going through my notes, I found a hundred songs, not released,” Track told DJ Vlad. “‘Ay Track, check this out. Ay bro, what you think about this verse? What you think about this hook?’ One day, I went, I said, ‘Let me really see how much songs this man really had.’ Man got over 200 or 300 songs.”

Von’s first and only album, Welcome to O’Block, dropped in October 2020 and included Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Fivio Foreign, and Lil Durk.
