RZA and DJ Scratch have announced their full-length collaborative album, and to coincide with the news they’ve shared a new video for the title track.

The duo, who first released their song “Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater” last year, are set to team-up for an album that pays tribute to the martial arts movies they grew up on. The video for the album’s title track borrows heavily from those Hong Kong-produced movies, playing out like a classic Shaw Brothers production condensed into a brief, four-minute runtime.

Their collaborative album is set to arrive on March 4, and is entirely produced by DJ Scratch. "Lyrically the hip-hop part of me had a chance to re-emerge during quarantine. Giving Scratch the reins as a producer and me taking the reins as an MC, that's what frees me up creatively and lets me play more with lyrical gags and lyrical flows because I don't have to be focused on everything," said RZA of the album. "He delivered tracks that resonated and brought me back to a sound that I felt was missing. For me it was really natural for me to flow and write to these songs.”

DJ Scratch added that they wanted Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater to evoke the feeling of catching the latest dubbed kung fu films every Saturday on TV. “I’m proud of this project and I can’t wait to perform these songs live,” said Scratch. Considering RZA’s well-documented love of the kung-fu film genre, the album sounds like a true passion project.
