Bad Bunny has clarified that he didn't take shots at fellow Puerto Rican rapper and singer Anuel AA on the recent Tainy collaboration "Pasiempre."

In a post on Instagram, Anuel shared a video showing his private messages with Bad Bunny. "Enserio?" asked Anuel in the DM, which translates to "Really?" or "Seriously?" In a lengthy response, Bad Bunny indicated that he wasn't going after Anuel on the verse, which closes out the album edition of the song.

"Seriously what? Anuel my man, I have not disrespected you or said anything negative about you," wrote Bad Bunny in his reply, according to a translation. “All the good positive things and respect that I have always said to you are the same that I say wherever I go. Ask anywhere if at any time I have spoken ill of you out there... NEVER. Don't let people instigate because that bar is inspired by the podcasters, and people of the genre that I have seen speaking belittling my contribution to trap. Making music is what we have to do and takeover these streets. There is no hate here and there never will be, real."

In the caption, Anuel AA added, "He said it himself  look for yourselves… THIS SHOT IS NOT FOR ME, MAYBE IT IS FOR MOLUSCO AND CHENTE OR MAYBE ALOFOKE."

In his verse, which is uncredited, Bad Bunny addresses his place in the world of Latin trap. “I’m not the king of trap / Neither the God of trap / I’m Bad Bunny and I’m bigger than trap,” he sings on the song. Bad Bunny has earned a reputation as a bit of a genre shapeshifter, and his most recent album Un Verano Sin Ti saw him experiment with various new sounds. In his verse, he appears to be suggesting he's outgrown the genre to some extent.

Anuel has also referred to himself as the "God of trap," which resulted in some perceiving Bad Bunny's "Pasiempre" verse as a diss directed at him. Regardless of whether the verse was intended to be addressing another artist, Bad Bunny only seems interested in showing love to Anuel AA and potentially making more music together.
