Radio host Angie Martinez has revealed she was involved in a "severe" car accident this past week. The Power 105 host will be taking a break for an unspecified amount of time as she recovers from her injuries, which include a fractured lumbar and shattered vertebrae.
In a note she posted on both Twitter and Instagram, Martinez wrote, "I've always believed in angels and mine was with me the other morning." She continued, "I was in a severe car accident and sustained a fractured lumbar and shattered vertebrae. I'm recovering and will be for some time, but I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to do that. Wanted you all to hear it from me first and know that although this is a difficult time, I am in the best spirits possible and determined to be back and better than ever soon! God Bless and I deeply appreciate all the love and prayers."
Among those to wish Martinez a speedy recovery on social media was Missy Elliott, who said she will "most definitely" keep the iconic radio host in her prayers.
The 48-year-old Martinez just recently launched WeTV's Untold Stories of Hip-Hop, which delves into the backgrounds of some of the biggest names in hip-hop.
