A man is seen in widely shared footage attempting to hold up a nail salon in Atlanta, only to walk out empty-handed after being largely ignored by the would-be victims.

In an initial statement on the incident, which took place on July 3 at the Nail1st salon on Piedmont, Robbery Unit investigators with the Atlanta Police Department said they were seeking “assistance from the public” in the case. Citing statements from witnesses, the department said the suspect, who has not been publicly identified, demanded that those inside the establishment “surrender their money.” However, this ultimately did not come to pass.

“Witnesses indicated the suspect entered the location wearing a blue hat, sunglasses, and blue jeans,” investigators said on Thursday. “The suspect demanded the patrons get on the ground and surrender their money. The suspect then fled the location in a silver in color sedan.”

The department is offering a reward of as much as $2,000 in connection with information on the suspect.

Footage of the incident shows the suspect entering the salon with one hand in a crossbody bag, at which point he screams at those inside.

“Everybody get down!” the suspect is heard saying. “Give me all the money! Empty out your pockets!”

Getting nothing in return, the man then turns his attention to a man behind the counter.

“Get down!” he yells at the man, who answers a ringing phone instead of responding. From there, a woman is seen calmly standing up, only to be yelled at again by the man.

“Give me the money!” he screams, as the woman mildly throws up her hands and exits.

“Where’s the money?” the man then asks those still inside, who proceed to ignore him. In a mere 30 seconds, the man throws in the towel and leaves the shop, at which point the thankfully anticlimactic video comes to an end.

The footage follows a recent string of equally bizarre robbery-related stories, including an Indianapolis woman whose alleged armed robber asked her to add him on Facebook because she was “too pretty to rob.”

Also in June, a Florida man was arrested after allegedly robbing a store while wearing a cardboard box on their head.
