Friends are speaking out after a 27-year-old Texas man was fatally stabbed at a luxury Miami condo in what local police have described as a “domestic dispute.”

The stabbing occurred Sunday evening at the One Paraiso Residences condominium, per a regional report from WTVJ, with local police initially responding to a call of a man having been stabbed. Authorities have since said there were signs of a struggle prior to the stabbing, with the man later identified by friends as Christian Tobechukwu Obumseli.

Obumseli, per a separate report from the Dallas Morning News, had “recently moved” to Florida with his girlfriend. Once police arrived at the scene, he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Josh Ramsey, described as a friend to both individuals, said he and other friends were “shocked” by the fatal stabbing. He compared the incident to something “straight out of a crime documentary.”

Three individuals described as friends of the couple were also interviewed by WPLG, who reported this week that the group had identified the girlfriend as “OnlyFans model and Instagram influencer” Courtney Clenney, 25, who goes by Courtney Tailor online. This was not immediately announced or otherwise confirmed by local authorities.

“From what we’ve personally experienced between the both of them we believe that, like, Christian wouldn’t put her in a position where she would need to stab him to protect herself,” one friend, Ashley Vaughn, told the publication. Vaughn also said she and the other two friends had “seen her hit him” but had “never seen him hit her.”

An alleged neighbor, meanwhile, was featured in the same WPLG piece as claiming to have witnessed Obumseli “swinging at her” approximately a week prior to the stabbing.

At the time of this writing, no charges in the stabbing had been publicly announced. According to WPLG’s Wednesday-published piece, Clenney “was detained” after the stabbing, at which point police allege she was making suicide threats. She was allegedly hospitalized by way of the Baker Act, i.e. the Florida Mental Health Act of 1971.

Complex has reached out to police in Miami for additional comment; this story may be updated. Initial reports on the stabbing, notably, have highlighted the fact that local authorities responded to several disturbance calls at the residence in recent months. The investigation is ongoing.
