Two people have died and one person was injured following a shooting at a Texas A&M University-Commerce residency hall.

ABC Newsreports the shooting took place on Monday at the Pride Rock residence hall, which is where freshmen stay. The surviving victim of the shooting has been taken to a nearby hospital, although their condition is currently unknown.

Due to the shooting, classes have been canceled for the rest of Monday. The university said officers have been stationed across the campus.

In a series of tweets that updated students, faculty, and families of those at the University, A&M-Commerce instructed everyone to take shelter until further notice. The precautionary move was lifted shortly after, while the investigation continues. The area surrounding Pride Rock is still inaccessible, but the university has informed everyone that counselors are on site to provide support.
