Two police officers have been shot and one suspect is dead following a shooting at a Walmart in Forrest City, Arkansas. Local news station WREG Memphis revealed that authorities were called to the store following alleged threats made by a customer. The Walmart is situated about 85 miles east of Little Rock and 50 miles west of Memphis.

The suspect was approached by the police about the threats he made, which is when he reportedly opened fire, hitting both of them. One of the officers was taken to a local hospital, while another was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown, and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Last August, another shooting took place at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, leaving 22 dead and 26 injured. The gunman was charged with capital murder, with the case treated as "domestic terrorism." Walmart came under scrutiny for insufficent security after the Texas shooting took place, but it's not clear what the security was like at the Forrest City store. Walmart quietly introduced more security to its stores in El Paso last year, including the use of off-duty officers.
