New York Fashion Week will be the launching pad for a slew of Kith collabs, including the previously announced Tommy Hilfiger collection.
"My whole thesis … is to give people the feeling I had when I fell in love with the products from the brands that I love," Kith boss Ronnie Fieg toldBusiness of Fashion Wednesday. Fieg's NYFW show on Thursday will feature collaborations with Kith-inspiring brands Versace, Greg Lauren, and the aforementioned Hilfiger. For the Versace portion, Fieg explained, he was moved creatively by early memories of his mother not being able to afford pieces from the brand despite "idolizing" the aesthetic.
The Versace pieces, designed from scratch, were made in Versace factories in Italy and will be available for Versace-level prices upon launch. A burgundy velvet bomber, a shimmering gold T-shirt, and a coach’s jacket with faux fur were among the Kith x Versace items Fieg previewed Wednesday.
Kith will also be hitting us with Adidas, Columbia, Adidas, Vans, and other collabs during NYFW festivities, as well as the latest batch of Kith solo pieces. All of this will take place in Brooklyn's Navy Yard, where attendees will gather at the aptly named Kith Park.
Though exact details on the presentation haven't been unveiled, Fieg told BoF Wednesday that we shouldn't expect a traditional runway experience. The typical format, he explained, doesn't allow the consumer to have a conversation with the product.
