Social Status is looking to add another trophy to its mantle.

The streetwear boutique, founded by James Whitner, has earned a 2023 Webby nomination for Playground/Recess—a short film that supported its Nike Air Penny collaboration. Directed by brothers Julien and Justen Turner, the coming-of-age project features comedic performances by Lou Young, Gavin White, Qasai Smalls, Jarius Jones, Josh Jones, and Evyn Mills.

Playground/Recess serves as the follow-up to Social Status’ Free Lunch film, which won the People’s Choice Award for Best Video Campaign at last year’s Webbys. The latest film is nominated in the same category.

“Nominees like Social Status are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” Claire Graves, president of The Webby Awards, said in a press release. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 14,000 entries we received this year.”

You can watch Playground/Recess via YouTube above and vote for it at the 2023 Webby Awards website. Public voting will close April 20.

In support of the nomination, Social Status is hosting special screenings of the film as well as Free Lunch. Check out the full schedule below.

The 27th annual Webby Awards will be announced April 25, and will be celebrated with a ceremony on May 15.
