Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, LeBron James has shared a Spider-Man meme comparing COVID-19 to the flu and colds.

The meme features three Spider-Man characters pointing at each other, with one reading “coivd,” and the other two reading “cold” and “flu.” Alongside the image, LeBron wrote, “[shrug emoji] help me out folks.” It’s unclear what prompted Bron to share the meme, but the vaccinated Lakers star did have a close call with COVID-19 earlier this month when he returned a false positive test.

Earlier this year, LeBron James faced criticism after he said that he was “very skepitcal” about the COVID-19 vaccine before he took it. Per the Guardian, he suggested that it wasn’t his place to tell people to get vaccinated.

“I don’t talk about other people and what they should do,” he said. “We’re talking about individual bodies. We’re not talking about something political or racism or police brutality. I don’t think I personally should get involved in what other people do for their bodies and livelihoods. ... I know what I did for me and my family ... But as far as speaking for everybody and their individualities and things they want to do, that’s not my job.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was among those to call him out over his comments.
