Toronto has yet another reason to embrace Scottie Barnes. Beyond his stellar work with the Raptors last season, the NBAβs Rookie of the Year has clearly been adapting to his new life in the North.Β
Turns out the 20-year-old Raptor is a basketball superstarΒ both on the real-life and virtual courts. Barnes, who occasionallyΒ streams himself playing NBA 2K22 on Twitch, found himself beefing jokingly with someone who claimed to be a Toronto mans.
βOoh youβre a Toronto man now,β remarks Barnes. βWhere are you from, youβre from Brampton?β
When the player confirms heβs actually from Brampton, the satellite city just north west of Ontarioβs capital, Barnes goes into full Toronto mans mode, accent and all.Β
βYoΒ guys, this guy say he from Brampton! Get this likkleΒ waste yute up out of here, youβre a waste yute, fam!β
Some people think that this is a sign Barnes has fallen for the city that scooped him up fourth overall in the NBA draft.Β
All of that said, whether or not someone from Brampton qualifies as a Toronto mans is a distinction weβll leave up to you.Β
