If you're a basketball fan, you're presumably familiar with one of the most iconic photos associated with the sport ever. That's right, the image of Dwyane Wade, arms spread, after throwing an alley-oop to his then-Miami Heat teammate LeBron James, who is getting ready to catch the pass for a dunk.
There's simply no way to recreate that photo. The photographer, Morry Gash of the Associated Press, needs a spot in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame for capturing the image. Nothing will ever come close. Right?
Dallas Mavericks teammates Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis tried to recreate the iconic shot during Thursday's game against the Detroit Pistons in Mexico City. However, they fell quite short. And Twitter let them know about it.
It's not that the play wasn't beautiful...
It's just that the images caught of the play don't come close to the photo Gash captured back in 2010. Judge for yourself.
Props to the duo for trying, specifically Doncic, who is having an MVP-caliber sophomore year. However, sometimes the original will always be best. And Twitter users let them have it.
Ayo. Stop calling that Luka lob to Kristaps the "Bron and Wade" or whatever. You're embarrassing yourself.
