Could Darrelle Revis' days in the NFL be numbered? According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Revis is "done" with the game of football. "He's done," a person close to the New York Jets cornerback told Mehta. "If he had his way, he'd be done right now. He doesn't want to play anymore. He's made a lot of money."

Throughout his 10-year NFL career, the Aliquippa, Pennsylvania native earned the nickname "Revis Island" for the way he would lock down on receivers and make them nonexistent in games. However, he has looked like a shell of his former self during the 2016 campaign, getting outmatched by opposing players week in and week out. A Revis confidant addressed his decline in play, simply stating, "He tanked it."

Last year, Revis signed a front-loaded five-year, $70 million contract with the Jets. Over the first two years of the deal, the 31-year-old would receive a combined $33 million before the yearly total dips to $13 million in 2017 and drops once again to $10 million for each of the last two seasons. Considering he has made plenty of money through the years, it's entirely possible that a lack of competitive desire could force Darrelle to call it quits before the Jets' front office needs to decide on what to do with him going forward.

Maybe a change in position, like free safety, could invigorate his competitive spirit. If not, Revis should step up to the plate and do what he needs—and apparently wants—to do.
