Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Kendrick Norton had his arm amputated after being involved in a car accident overnight.
After several local reporters shared that Norton, who was in a pick-up truck that crashed into a concrete barrier in Miami, had his arm amputated, Norton's agent confirmed the news on Twitter.Β
βWith sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm,β agent Malki Kawa tweeted. βWe ask that you continue to pray for him. His family also asks that the public respect Kendrickβs privacy.β
The Miami Dolphins released a statement saying that their "thoughts and prayers" are with the 22-year-old.
Norton was a standout at the University of Miami and head coach Manny Diaz shared that the "U family"Β is praying for Kendrick andΒ his loved ones.Β
Norton was acquired by the Dolphins last season off of the Panthers practice squad and was expected to compete for a roster spot in the coming season. A source told the Sun-Sentinel that he is currently in critical condition, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.Β
