In the latest episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian opens up about her issues with some of the editing decisions on Hulu’s The Kardashians. Meanwhile, infidelities of the Tristan Thompson variety also got some attention.
Early into the latest episode, titled “Bucket List Goals,” Kourtney is seen having lunch with Stephanie Shepherd. While the televised bit of their meal begins with a discussion on the possible health benefits of eating quail eggs, the conversation quickly turns to the series itself, with Steph asking Kourtney how filming has been going with her and Travis Barker.
“We, like, film and have the best time ever and then we’ve been watching the edits and we’re just so annoyed because they’re, like, swirling us in with this drama,” Kourtney, who recently married the prolific blink-182 drummer and producer, said.
Asked if the drama in question was drama of the Scott Disick-focused variety, Kourtney confirmed that it was.
“Especially when I saw my engagement episode,” she said. “Editors or whoever are taking it as, like, ‘Let’s take Kourtney. She’s the chosen one to be the drama.’”
Kourtney explained that she and her sisters all serve as executive producers on the series, which gives them the chance to see early cuts of the episodes and provide notes as they see fit.
“I am in one of the best places I’ve ever been in my life and it’s time for our show to catch up,” she said.
Extending small moments into misleadingly large ones, particularly in connection with her prior relationship with Disick, is—per Kourtney—“enabling this old narrative and buying into something that just doesn’t really exist.”
Deeper into her discussion with Steph, Kourtney wondered why more of her current real-life “fairytale” with Barker isn’t getting the same amount of attention.
“Why is the fairytale not being told like the true fairytale that it is?” she said. “I don’t wanna be insensitive but, like, what you said to me on the phone like, ‘Why isn’t everyone empowering you and, like, celebrating that you’ve, like, done all this work for, like, years and now have this relationship that [you] deserve?’ How could this be taken negatively?”
Later, Khloé Kardashian and Kris Jenner meet up at a restaurant and wind up talking about Tristan Thompson. According to Kris, Tristan has been telling her repeatedly how he wants to regain trust and get married.
“I believe people should have multiple chances in life, I do,” Khloé said. “But it takes work and it takes time and everyone has to be patient and not everyone is.”
In a confessional, she spoke further on her feelings about marriage in general, saying she takes the idea of it seriously.
“I’m not with Tristan to just float around with Tristan,” she said. “Marriage is the end goal. But right now I still think there’s just work to be done with him and I both.”
Tristan is mentioned again toward the end of the episode, with cameras entering Kim’s early morning workout to find that she has just learned of an instance of cheating involving Tristan and Maralee Nichols. As was widely reported last year, the tryst was made public due to paternity-focused legal documents. A paternity test ultimately revealed Tristan as the father of the child.
In the Kardashians episode, Kim is first seen speaking with Kris about the revelation, speculating that her sister “doesn’t even fucking know” about it. She then connected on the phone with Kylie Jenner.
“I’m, like, shaking for her,” Kim told Kylie. “My soul dies for her.” Kylie responded by asking if Tristan is “like, the worst person on the planet,” followed shortly after by the merging-in on the call of Kourtney.
“If he doesn’t at least talk to her about this stuff before it happens, that’s, like, that’s insane,” Kourtney said. Kylie agreed, calling the situation “insane in general.”
Kourtney summarized the debacle as part of “a never-ending betrayal” of their sister. Kim, meanwhile, took a harsher stance. “Fuck him,” she said. Both Kylie and Kourtney stated their sister “doesn’t deserve this,” with Kim then seen receiving call from Khloé herself, at which point—as should be expected—viewers were hit with the old “To be continued…” trick.
