Nick Cannon explained why Mariah Carey will likely be the only wife he’ll ever have.

At the beginning of an interview on the It’s Tricky With Raquel Harper podcast, the host noted she had run into Cannon at Chuck E. Cheese with his seven kids, which the Wild ’N Out creator said was a common occurrence despite those who have criticized him for fathering his children with four different women.

“People gonna say what they gonna say and however they say it, because I understand that it’s not a conventional setup and it’s pretty unorthodox based on like, ‘Wait, how does one person have so much time and energy?’” the 41-year-old said.

Harper asked Nicki for his thoughts on marriage and if he ever considered getting hitched again after his 2016 divorce from Mariah Carey.

“I mean this is the thing, it depends on what you call marriage,” he said. “Getting the government involved in my relationship, like that whole paperwork stuff? Nah, but if it’s something on a spiritual or holistic ritual I’m all for it. We can go have a ceremony somewhere...why would government be involved in your love life? Like that just seems so bizarre to me...’cause if you go to the core of what it was all about it’s really a business and to bring business and love together, I’ve experienced it, that’s a tough one to get involved with.”

He continued by saying his marriage to Mariah was still a beautiful relationship regardless. “That to me was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and for that to have come to an end as well it’s like, alright, well why would I go back if I couldn’t make that work out right?” He said. “You know what it is, once I gave my all to a scenario going forward I’d have to be presented with something I’ve never seen before and never experienced in order for me to be willing to go back to do something like that.”

Harper pushed back on this and said the mothers of Cannon’s kids might find that comment frustrating. “Nah, because it’s not about them,” he said. “Marriage and all that goes into that, it’s a lot. Like anybody who’s married knows what that is—you’re literally entering a partnership that says when two become one, and I know I’m not built for that.”

While Nick Cannon clearly loves and makes time for all of his kids, he did recently say he’s seriously considering a vasectomy now that his eighth child is on the way with his girlfriend Bre Tiesi.

“I already went and got my vasectomy consultation,” he said in an interview with E! News’ Daily Pop. “I ain’t looking to populate the earth completely, but I’m definitely looking forward to taking care and loving all the children that I currently have.”
