It looks like Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has been added to the list of characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who will receive his/her own show.

Variety has learned that a limited series for the archer is in the works, set to debut on Disney's upcoming streaming service, Disney+. The upcoming limited series will reportedly feature Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye. It will be a "changing of the guard" story, depicting Barton relinquishing his role as the hero to Kate Bishop, who, in the comic storyline, is his successor.

The end of this series will see Renner officially retiring the role, which he debuted in the 2011 film Thor. Viewers can expect this show to tie in with the MCU, meaning that the actress who portrays Bishop could assume the role for the big screen as well.

While reps for Marvel, Disney, and Renner have yet to comment, Marvel Studios is making good on its promise to keep its Disney+ content based in the MCU. The upcoming Hawkeye project joins the list of other Marvel IP's getting their own shows on Disney+. Last year, it was reported that Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen were confirmed to reprise their respective roles as Loki and Scarlett Witch for their own shows. Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) are also set to receive the same treatment.

Tomorrow is #DisneyPlus Day - I will have full coverage once #Disney makes its 5pm EST presentation about the new streaming service which will hopefully include images, etc! #KateBishop #Hawkeye
