Sergio Alvarez, a 30-year-old homeless man, has been charged with felony animal cruelty for choking a pelican to death in Malibu, CA, last week. Alvarez killed the bird because he was hungry. After experiencing no success while fishing, Alvarez noticed the pelican. Someone called the police before he had the opportunity to eat it.
This story is just sad from every angle.
