Following Kevin Hart's decision to step down from his Oscars hosting gig after the reemergence of his past homophobic tweets, Nick Cannon wasn't going to let Kev be the only comedian in the spotlight. In a series of tweets Friday, Cannon called out Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman and Amy Schumer for similarly insensitive commentary.
All three comedians have experienced substantial professional growth within the entertainment industry—despite their decisions to publish homophobic remarks—which Cannon subsequently decided to call into question.
Rather than condemning political incorrectness, Cannon highlighted the double standard that was arguably at play when looking at the Kevin Hart backlash through the lens of other industry leaders making similar remarks. "Nope!! You know I’ve been saying fucked up shit since twitter started! I don’t play that politically correct bullshit! Fuck politics!! Only Truth!✊🏾" he tweeted.
After Kevin Hart was announced to be this year's host at the Oscars, homophobic tweets were resurfaced online, for which the Academy asked him to apologize. Not surprisingly, the comedian released a video on Instagram explaining his decision not to ask for forgiveness.
