Bam Margera’s wife Nicole Boyd has filed for legal separation after nine years of marriage with the star of MTV’s hit series Jackass.

TMZ reports Boyd filed the papers in court on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the couple’s split. Boyd also listed the pair’s breakup date as Sept. 14, 2021.

Boyd also requested both legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old son, Phoenix, while allowing Margera to have visitation rights as long as it’s within the Los Angeles County region. Additionally, Margera’s estranged wife is asking for spousal support.

“Nikki felt compelled to file for legal separation from her husband, Bam Margera, due to his continuing drug and alcohol abuse, erratic behavior, and due to his failure to provide support for her and their son,” Boyd’s attorney told People.

The statement continued, “Nikki has put everything she has into trying to get Bam to stay sober, and to trying to preserve her family.”

The news arrives a month after Margera appeared on Steve-O’s podcast, where he revealed he was essentially “pronounced dead” after suffering multiple seizures in December.

“I was basically pronounced dead on Elvis’ birthday, Dec. 8,” Margera told his one-time Jackass co-star. “I did not know that I had gnarly COVID and my body was shutting down. I went into four seizures, and each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes. And on the fourth one I bit my tongue so hard it was nearly fallen off. It got so swollen and puffy it wouldn’t fit in my mouth, and I was drinking the infected blood, which gave me pneumonia, as well.”
