Earlier this year, it was revealed that Eddie Murphy was in talks with Netflix for a $70 million stand-up comedy special. While the legendary comedian didn't have any shows planned at the time the news broke, in an appearance on Netflix's Present Company with Krista Smith podcast he's made it clear that will change soon.

At around the 25-minute mark of the podcast, Murphy talked about hosting Saturday Night Live in December before casually mentioning a tour. "And then next year in 2020 I'm going to go on the road and do some strand-up," he explained. It's not clear if the tour will be taped for a Netflix special, but it's highly likely that a special will surface shortly after the yet-to-be-announced tour concludes.

Murphy built his name off the back of a number of legendary stand-up specials and as a cast member on SNL in the '80s, arguably revitalizing the once-struggling show. With him set to return to both those avenues very soon, Murphy is in the midst of a major comeback. Before he sets off on tour, however, he'll appear in the Rudy Ray Moore comedy biopic Dolemite is My Name, which is set for an Oct. 4 Netflix premiere.

Just as exciting is his long-awaited Coming to America sequel, which will see Murphy and Arsenio Hall reprising their roles from the 1988 comedy classic. Coming 2 America is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2020.
