Lindsay Lohan on Her Viral Incident with Syrian Family: 'I Read the Situation Wrong'

Paper Magazine’s latest issue is a sort of homage to the child stars turned messy adults who are trying to polish their tarnished images. Last week, Amanda Bynes appeared on the cover to open up about her drug use, struggles after filming She’s the Man, and some of her Twitter antics. Now, Paper has published a new cover story on Lindsay Lohan.

The interview precedes Lohan’s Vanderpump Rules-esque MTV series about her resort in Mykonos. It’s the same resort, the Lohan Beach Club, where viral footage of Lohan dancing like a fish out of water was filmed. The Dubai resident spends most of the interview emphasizing how she’s no longer a partier, has changed for the better, and that her true joy in life is staying in and hosting her friends and family.

"I am who I am. I'm a good person," she told Paper. "I take care of myself. I'm healthy. I like to have fun, but that doesn't mean I need to go out and drink and be crazy. I have a good relationship with that. It's funnier to watch other people party. My brother and his wife came out to Mykonos and everyone wanted to go out every night, but I pretty much just went home; some of my friends didn't want to go out, so they'd come and I'd cook. I like cooking for people and having people over and listening to good music."

However, there is recent evidence that the 32-year-old could easily slide back into her old ways. Two months ago, a troubling video of Lohan attempting to “help” a Syrian refugee family went viral. She livestreamed the incident on Instagram, where viewers watched her harass a mother and her kids in broken Arabic, before the mother hit Lohan in the face. “I read the situation wrong. I’ve learned from it,” Lohan admits. “And that’s all I have to say.”
