In Season 3 of Stranger Things, Max's older stepbrother Billy Hargrove steps out from the shadows of being a secondary character and into a more prominent role, but for spoiler purposes, we will leave it at that. As we saw Billy's arrogant persona continue to take shape, we couldn't help but wonder about the man who portrays him: Dacre Montgomery.

On Saturday, Montgomery shared a screenshot from his audition tape with a caption detailing his struggles to make it as an actor.

Earlier today, Montgomery posted a photo of himself as a kid, along with a lengthy message where he recalls his struggles throughout his teenage years, and dealing with detractors in drama school as he pursued his dream of acting.

"I never let the failures get me down," he wrote. "Because I believed in myself and I never let anyone tell me otherwise. You can do anything you set your mind to. So, go out there and get it!"

Season 3 of Stranger Things is now streaming on Netflix.

Caleb McLaughlin, who plays the character of Lucas, recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of another season of the show. "It’s all up to the Duffers and the writers if they want to keep going," McLaughlin said. "Maybe they want to stop now. Maybe they don’t want to give anyone another season. Maybe they just want to leave you guys hanging like that. I talk to people about this all the time, we can literally leave you guys hanging on the Upside Down."
