After previously teasing its existence, Lil Durk and Metro Boomin are once again fueling the hype surrounding their forthcoming collaborative album.

On Thursday, a fan on Twitter asked Metro Boomin whether he and Lil Durk still had plans to release the project. The Atlanta producer confirmed that the joint album is on the way.

“@MetroBoomin ever dropping your durk collab album,” the fan asked, to which Metro responded, “Yes still otw we spoke about it the other day.”

Hours later, DJ Akademiks posted the screenshot on Instagram, at which point Durk jumped into the comments section to add to the excitement. “Nobody safe,” the Chicago rapper wrote.

Back in February 2020, Durk took to Instagram to tease the project, posting a picture of a billboard that read, “No Auto Durk. Produced by Metro Boomin. Album coming soon.”

A few months later, in a May 2020 interview with Ebro Darden on Beats 1, Durkio was asked how many songs him and Metro planned to drop.

“I don’t really know,” Durk said. “We just record. One day, he’ll say thirteen. The next he’ll say nine. We record until it’s time. I want to do at least forty songs.”

Durk went on to describe the sound of the album as being “turned up,” before hinting that fans could see guest appearances from Young Thug, Future, Gunna, Lil Baby, and Meek Mill.

Prior to this week, the last time the pair teased their forthcoming project was in February of 2021, when Metro took to Twitter to post pictures of him and Durk in the studio. “The sound and the voice,” he captioned the tweet.

The update on the joint project arrives just a week after Durk dropped his seventh studio album, 7220. According to projections from Hits Daily Double, Durkio is set to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 by moving 120,000 to 130,000 album equivalent units. The Chicago rapper previously topped the Billboard 200 last year with his collaborative effort with Lil BabyThe Voice of the Heroes.
