Drake has issued a succinct response to the high praise he received from Erykah Badu over his recent shows at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

As you may have seen on Instagram, Badu shared a post from Okayplayer in which Drake was billed as “the voice of a generation.” Notably, she agreed, adding in a simple “cause he is” when sharing the post.

“My eternal spirit animal has spoken,” Drake responded in an Instagram Stories update in which he also sprinkled in an assortment of emoji. See the full exchange in context below.

Drake’s performance at the Apollo for SiriusXM boasted a number of notable attendees including Ice Spice, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Michael Rubin, Gayle King, and more. Both Dipset and 21 Savage, meanwhile, were also brought to the stage by Drake to the surprise of those in the crowd.

At one point, Drake teased that he may be releasing a new project later this year.

“I’ve thought about a bunch of things in life, but at this moment in time none of those things are stopping making music for you,” Drake told the audience. “So I’ll be here for you for a little bit at least. And I hope I can strike up more emotions for you, maybe this year. I might get bored and make another one, who knows.”
