In a brief interview with TMZ, Chief Keef replied to Charlamagne Tha God saying the Chicago rapper isn’t influential because he “didn’t influence the world.”
“I don’t care. Charlamagne, he got his own opinions,” Keef said when asked about the recent comments. “I don’t give no fuck.”
In a recent viral clip from Charlamagne’s Brilliant Idiots podcast, The Breakfast Club host declared that Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Tupac are the most influential rappers of all-time. It was suggested to him that Chief Keef deserves a mention too, which Charlamagne shot down. “No, you know why I don’t put Chief Keef in there?” he continued. “Because Chief Keef didn’t influence the world, he influenced a sound of a region. Those four people I named literally influenced people all over the world.”
In the same interview with TMZ, Keef was also asked about a recently resurfaced clip in which DJ Akademiks claimed he helped popularize drill and in turn boosted Keef’s popularity.
“The fuck?” laughed Keef, who then offered up an impression of Akademiks and repeatedly said, “The War on Chi-raq.” He added, “Just remember the war in Chi-raq or whatever the fuck he was calling that shit.”
Akademiks has since responded to the clip, and suggested that the rapper was misled by the TMZ interviewer. “TMZ hiring anybody these days,” he wrote on Instagram. “Lying on a n***a name I ain’t ever say I made Sosa hot and I never called Sosa the grim reaper. How hard is it to quote ppl accurately.”
Shortly after Charlamagne made his comments earlier this month, one of the signees to Keef’s 43B record label chimed in with his thoughts. “Im in spain rn n da biggest rappers here told me dey learned english jus to understand what chief keef says,” said Lil Gnar, who joined the 43B label earlier this year upon its launch.
